Get told when an item is back in stock
Last reviewed
To get an alert when something is back in stock, use the retailer's own notify-me option if the product page offers one, a restock alert app, or a page watcher that reads the product page and tells you when its availability changes. This page is for shoppers; if you run a store, you want a back-in-stock app for your shop platform instead.
Three ways to hear about a restock
- The retailer's own alert. Some product pages show a notify-me button while an item is out of stock. Look on the product page itself; where the option exists, it is the most direct one.
- Restock alert apps. Some services follow popular products across stores; HotStock, for example, says it alerts you when hard-to-get products are back in stock.
- A page watcher. A monitoring service reads the exact product page on a schedule and tells you when its availability changes.
How a Peekivo restock watch is designed to work
- The watch reads the availability on the product page: the stock status text or the label on the buy button.
- The rule names the change you care about, for example the button no longer reads Sold Out, or the status no longer contains out of stock.
- The page is read on a schedule. On the proposed personal plan, the shortest interval between two reads is six hours.
- When the rule matches, the alert shows the availability before and after.
Honest limits
- Popular items can sell out in minutes. A watch that reads a page every few hours can miss a restock that sells out between two reads.
- Some retailers use waiting rooms, queues or bot walls for big releases. Peekivo does not get around them; the watch reports the read as blocked.
- Peekivo does not buy for you, hold an item in a cart or join a queue.
- For the most contested releases, dedicated restock services and community alerts may be faster. We have not measured this.
When does a store restock?
Retailers rarely publish online restock schedules, and Peekivo has no restock timing data. Rather than guessing when an item will return, a watch on the product page tells you when its availability changes.
Common questions
How to get an alert when something is back in stock?
Check the product page for a notify-me option first. If there is none, use a restock alert app or a page watcher on the product page with a rule on its availability.
What app can I use to get an alert when something is in stock?
A restock alert app that follows popular products, the retailer's own app where it offers stock notifications, or a website change monitor pointed at the product page. Peekivo is in early access and cannot be used yet.
Does Amazon have a back-in stock alert?
We could not confirm this from an Amazon help page, so we will not guess. Look on the product page itself: if an option to be notified appears there, it is Amazon's own.
How to get notified of restock?
Use the store's own alert where it exists. Otherwise, watch the product page and set a rule on the availability text or the buy button.
