Can ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity watch a web page for you?
By Peekivo
Last reviewed
Partly. As of 1 October 2026, OpenAI's help page says ChatGPT scheduled tasks can monitor for changes and notify you, and Perplexity lists monitoring among the jobs its scheduled tasks run. Google describes Gemini scheduled actions as suited to daily summaries. None of the three help pages describes keeping a before-and-after copy of a page or telling you when a page could not be read.
What each assistant's help page says
ChatGPT scheduled tasks
- OpenAI's help page says ChatGPT can run one-time or recurring tasks, monitor for changes, and respond to supported events when available.
- It says monitoring tasks check for changes and send a notification when a relevant update occurs, and that tasks can use information from previous runs.
- Active task limits by plan: 3 on Free and Go, 5 on Plus, 10 on Business and Edu, 15 on Pro and Enterprise.
- Free users can schedule a one-time task or a recurring task no more than once per day; eligible paid plans support recurring tasks up to once per hour.
- Notifications arrive by push, email or both, set in ChatGPT's notification settings.
Gemini scheduled actions
- Google's help page describes scheduled actions as recurring prompts for daily, weekly and monthly routines, such as a daily news digest on chosen topics.
- You can have up to 10 active scheduled actions at a time, and Keep Activity must be on.
- Gemini notifies you when each response is ready.
- The page says scheduled actions are suited to daily summaries and wrap-ups, and that rapidly changing data, like stock prices, will not be the latest when you receive it.
Perplexity scheduled tasks
- Perplexity's help page says Scheduled Tasks let Perplexity Computer run recurring work in the background, and lists monitoring of prices, news, mentions and inboxes among the uses.
- The page says they replace the older Perplexity Tasks experience; a separate help page explains that older recurring tasks are still managed in a different place.
- Tasks can run on any recurring schedule no more often than once per hour, and each run uses Computer credits.
- Notifications can arrive in the app, by mobile or web push, or by email, and each task shows its recent run history.
The same facts side by side. "Not described" means the help page does not mention it.
| Scheduled feature | How often | Says it monitors for changes | Keeps a before-and-after copy of the page | Says when a page could not be read | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT | Scheduled tasks (3 to 15 active, by plan) | Daily at most on Free; up to hourly on eligible paid plans | Yes, monitoring tasks notify on a relevant update | Not described; tasks can use information from previous runs | Not described |
| Gemini | Scheduled actions (up to 10 active) | Daily, weekly or monthly routines | Not described; suited to daily summaries | Not described | Not described |
| Perplexity | Scheduled Tasks in Computer (uses credits) | No more often than once per hour | Lists monitoring of prices, news, mentions and inboxes | Not described; shows recent run history | Not described for unreadable pages |
When an assistant is enough
- A recurring summary or news digest on a topic, where a fresh write-up each time is the point.
- A reminder or a routine check-in at a set time.
- A rough heads-up where an occasional miss or a vague answer does no harm.
When you need a page monitor
- You care about one exact value or list on one page: a price, a stock status, an advisory level, a new entry in an official list.
- You need proof of what changed, with the page before and after, for yourself or for a team.
- You need to know when the page could not be read, so silence never hides a blocked or broken check.
- Several people need the same alerts in a shared inbox or channel.
What Peekivo is built to do here
Peekivo combines the plain-sentence start of an assistant with a page monitor underneath. You say what you want to be told about; Peekivo proposes the page, the part to watch and the rule, and starts only after you approve. A fixed rule, not an AI model, decides when to alert, and each alert shows the page before and after the change. Each watch shows its last successful read, so a blocked page is reported rather than hidden.
